AmCham Nepal presents strategic proposals to bolster US-Nepal economic relations

The American Chamber of Commerce in Nepal (AmCham Nepal) has submitted a strategic memorandum to the government, proposing key reforms to enhance the investment climate and strengthen economic ties between Nepal and the United States.
During a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, AmCham Nepal Chairperson Nirmal Kajee Shrestha and board member Samrath Mogha emphasised the pivotal role of US investments in Nepal’s inclusive economic growth. The delegation highlighted opportunities for innovation, job creation, and sustainable development through strengthened bilateral cooperation.
The memorandum outlines critical recommendations, including policies to ease profit repatriation, promote ICT sector growth, and ensure tax stability. It also addresses ride-sharing regulations, revisions to Service VAT Tax policies, enhancements to the Double Tax Avoidance Agreement (DTAA), and anti-money laundering measures.
“These reforms are essential to creating a business-friendly environment where US investors can confidently contribute to Nepal’s sustainable development,” said Mogha.
AmCham Nepal reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with the government to support US businesses. “Together, we aim to forge a stronger economic partnership and a shared vision of prosperity for both nations,” noted Shrestha.
This initiative underscores AmCham Nepal’s role in bridging the private sector and policymakers, fostering collaborative economic growth.
