The Golden Thali, located within the Thamel Eco Resort premises in Thamel’s tourist hub, has been inaugurated.
Initiated by tourism entrepreneurs Rajan Simkhada of Earthbound Expeditions and Mohan Lamsal of Makalu Adventures, in collaboration with the Chef Nepal team, the restaurant aims to serve authentic Nepali flavours.
Designed to promote and showcase the cuisine of mid-hill regions of Nepal, Golden Thali represents the country’s diverse culinary heritage, according to the owners.
The Golden Thali includes chutneys prepared using a traditional stone grinder, fermented pickles, fresh pickles, and more. All spices used in the thali are prepared on a stone grinder to ensure authentic flavours.
The Golden Thali features 15 dishes, including meat and various other delicacies. Unlike other typical Thali restaurants in Nepal, the Golden Thali offers choices and customisation options.
Customers can select from various lentils, including black, red, beans, and mixed lentils. Similarly, for the traditional dhido, options such as corn, wheat, or buckwheat are available.
