The International Finance Corporation (IFC) has committed to expanding its investment in Nepal. The Corporation invested 100 million dollars in Nepal last year.
In a meeting held at the Ministry of Finance with Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, IFC’s South Asia Regional Director, Imad N. Fakhoury, informed officials about the expansion of the investment in Nepal, according to a press note issued by the Ministry.
According to the Ministry, Fakhoury stated that IFC’s support is aimed at enhancing competitiveness in the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector and the finance market, while also improving financial inclusion, creating jobs, and supporting Nepal’s climate goals.
“IFC’s primary focus is on green energy, creating more employment opportunities and economic involvement in Nepal,” he said during the meeting.
Finance Minister Paudel urged the IFC team to further expand their investment, noting that Nepal's economy requires greater investment for its improvement.
