A Nepal Airlines plane for Mumbai was delayed by three hours on Wednesday afternoon following a tip-off from police in Kailali that some passengers “were suspicious.”
Security personnel at the Tribhuvan International Airport then offloaded a passenger.
Prem Nath Thakur, general manager of Tribhuvan International Airport, told the Post that the offloaded passenger is a gold trader from Kailali.
“Based on the information from the Kailali police, the passenger was offloaded at 2pm,” he said. The Airbus A320-233 with 127 passengers on board was scheduled to fly for Mumbai at 11:15am. It took off at 3:20pm for its destination, according to airport officials.
Airport officials said another passenger, a woman, also disembarked the plane after the man was offloaded.
“The plane took off after the passenger was offloaded,” said Thakur. “We don’t know other details about the passenger.”
