Explore Earth Movers,  the authorised distributor of Volvo construction equipment in Nepal has extended its partnership with Volvo Penta.

Volvo Penta is the manufacturer and supplier of engines for industries and marine. The company has been producing engines for material handling equipment, construction equipment, agricultural equipment, power generation, marine leisure and commercial boats.

Speaking at a programme, Sushil Shrestha, managing director of Explore Earth Movers said that with the increasing demand of construction equipment and establishment of industries in the country, the company partnered with Volvo Penta to fulfil the domestic demand.

Explore Earth Movers introduced Volvo construction equipment in Nepal in 2015. He said that the company made a turnover of Rs1.10 billion in the fiscal year 2017-18. Volvo Penta is part of the Volvo Group which manufactures Volvo trucks, buses, construction equipment and diesel engines. Nepal imported graders and levellers worth Rs1.62 billion in 2017-18, a jump from Rs858.2 million in the fiscal year 2016-17, according to statistics regarding heavy equipment from the Trade and Export Promotion Centre (TEPC).

Similarly, imports of mechanical shovel, excavator and shovel loaders surged to Rs18.95 billion in fiscal year 2017-18 from Rs12.7 billion in the previous fiscal year. Even the import of bulldozer parts increased to Rs1.35 billion compared to Rs1.04 billion in the previous fiscal.

Mega infrastructure projects like hydropower, airport, road, and irrigation are being implemented in the country at a rapid pace. A single construction project requires different types of heavy equipment.
