Kathmandu

Shuvakarya Saving and Credit Pvt has won a cash prize of Rs 1 million under a monthly lucky draw scheme of the third iteration of ‘Kantipur Ko Karodpati’.

Shreesha Bhandari, the news chief of Kantipur daily, handed over a check for the amount to Suman Karki, managing director of the Aloknagar-based finance company, on Monday at the Kantipur Publications’s office in Central Business Park, Thapathali.

“The company is our brain child. Once we heard the news, we were all overwhelmed,” said Karki. “We have won Rs 1 million just by spending Rs 3,400 annually to subscribe Kantipur.”

He said the money will be used to uplift the office profile.

“I have also consulted with my co-workers to give some percent of this amount to the needy people,” said Karki.

The third iteration of ‘Kantipur Ko Karodpati’ was launched on March 29 this year. Under the campaign, one lucky subscriber of The Kathmandu Post and Kantipur will win Rs10 million as a bumper prize.

Apart from the monthly contest, the Karodpati scheme also offers Rs100,000 every week to lucky winners throughout the campaign period that runs for five months.

Launched first in 2015, the publications has so far produced two karodpatis (millionaires) through its subscription scheme. In previous years, the scheme was launched as the Kantipur Swarnapur Subscription Scheme.
