Festive schemes to boost sales of electronic items

Consumer electronic brands such as TCL, Hitachi, Colors and Himstar have already announced their festive offers, while other brands are planning to introduce their offers soon.
CG Electronics, the authorised dealer of TCL brand in Nepal, is currently offering cash discounts on its electronic goods. According to Shailendra Jha, senior manager at CG Electronics, the company has been providing cash discounts of up to 25 percent on TCL LED TVs, according to the size of the TV, which ranges from 24 inch to 65 inch.
Similarly, the company is also offering free installation of TCL air conditioners as part of their Dashain scheme. The TCL AC comes with a five-year warranty, said Jha. Likewise, the company has been providing cash discounts of up to 15 percent in the purchase of a washing machine and up to 20 percent discount on the purchase of a Godrej refrigerator, he said.
“The sales of consumer electronics goods increase by almost 30 percent during this time of the year,” he said. Products like TVs, refrigerators, chest freezers and washing machines are the most selling lectronic goods in the festival season, he said.
Universal Electrocom, the national distributor of Hitachi and Colors, will be announcing its festive offer soon, the company said. The company plans to launch refrigerators and a Colors 55-inch 4K LED Smart TV targeting the festival, said Lalit Kumar Mishra, CEO of Universal Electrocom. The price of the TV is estimated to be around Rs85,000.
Similarly, the company is also launching a high-end Hitachi refrigerator this festive season. The eco-friendly refrigerator consumes less electricity and features a side-by-side door, an automatic ice dispenser, and a dual-cooling system. The Hitachi refrigerator’s price ranges from Rs55,000 to Rs475,000. According to Mishra, the sales growth increase by 20 to 25 percent in the festive season in comparison to normal sales of 15 to 20 percent. The company targets a sales growth of 30 to 35 percent, he said. Customers wait for the festival season to purchase electronics mainly due to schemes and offer, he said.
Likewise, LG has been offering cash back offers and attractive gifts like home entertainment systems and other appliances, said the company. “We try to meet our customers’ expectations by providing them value for money,” said Sanjay Rajbhandary, marketing communications and brand management head at CG electronics. According to him, LG, TCL, Godrej, Sensei and CG observe sales increase of more than 30 percent during the festive season when compared to other times. Currently, the company has been offering a two-year warranty on LG TV sets and three years warranty in CG and TCL TV sets, he said.
Him Electronics, the authorised distributor of Himstar home appliances, has been offering scratch cards on the purchase of any home appliance product. Every scratch card is comprised of sure-shot prizes like irons, rice cookers, cash prices of Rs1,500 to Rs6,000, etc.
According to Keshav Dhital, deputy general manager at Him Electronics, Dashain and Tihar are regarded as the season to buy new electronic products, as there are great schemes available. The sales growth increases by 50 to 60 percent in the festival season in comparison to the rest of the year, he said. Himstar has been offering LED TVs (of 19 inch to 65 inch) with prices ranging from Rs9,000 to Rs100,000.
Similarly, prices for Himstar refrigerators (from 50 litres to 480 litres) range from Rs10,000 to Rs99,990. The company is also offering washing machines in three models—6.5, 7.5 and 10 kg—with prices ranging from Rs32,000 to Rs65,000.
