The Malla Hotel has withdrawn its case from the Supreme Court and has settled all its casino dues including licence renewal fees totalling Rs140 million, according to officials of the Department of Tourism. Casino Venus housed at the hotel was operated by Tapta Bahadur Bista and had not paid a penny in royalties. The casino in the hotel is now being operated under Bally’s Nepal with Sri Lankan investment. “The hotel is now running under the new regulation by renewing its licence and settling all its dues,” officials said. There are now only two casinos running under the court order and without paying taxes and renewing their operating licences, they said. (PR)
