The company is looking to reshape the way people communicate, share and experience the world through these smartphones.
The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are priced at Rs87,900 and Rs99,900 respectively. The company has opened pre-bookings for the phones and customers will be able to get their hands on the new devices on March 23.
According to the company, the S9 will be available in only one colour—Midnight Black while the S9+ will be available in three distinctive colours—Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple.
The electronics giant from South Korean have packed innovative features such as ‘Dual Aperture lens’, personalised ‘AR Emoji’ and more in their latest flagship devices.
Both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ feature a first of its kind dual aperture lens (f1.5/f2.4) which acts similar to the way the iris of a human eye expands and contracts. The new feature automatically lets in more light when it is dark and less light when it is too bright, resulting in photos that are crisp and clear.
Super Slow-mo is another new camera related feature introduced on the Galaxy S9 and S9+. Utilising a super speed dual pixel sensor with dedicated processing power and memory, the latest Samsung flagships are able to capture slow-motion video that captures 960 frames per second.
Users can rely on automatic motion detection—an intelligent feature that detects movement in the frame—to automatically start recording. Once the recording is complete, users can select background music from 35 different options or add their own tunes. Users can also easily create, edit and share GIF files with a simple tap in three playful styles of looping to watch the action over and over again, reads a press release.
Another innovative feature found on the new Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ is AR Emoji. Users will be able to create an emoji that looks, sounds and acts like them. According to the company, AR Emoji uses a data-based machine learning algorithm which analyses a 2D image of the user and maps out more than 100 facial features to create a 3D model that reflects and imitates expressions like winks and nods. This new feature allows users to share their real-life emotions that can be further customised with a range of stickers across most messaging platforms.
These new features are aimed at changing the way people use their smartphones.
“The way we use our smartphones has changed as communication and self-expression has evolved,” said Pranay Ratna Sthapit, Head IMBiz of Samsung Nepal. “With the launch of the Galaxy S9 and S9+, we have reimagined the smartphone camera.”
The Galaxy S9 and S9+ both sport Samsung’s revolutionary Infinity Display that was first introduced on the Galaxy S8.
The bold, bright Super AMOLED Infinity Display blends right into the phone with virtually no distracting notches, claims the company. Users will also be able to use the S9 and S9+ under direct sunlight as the screen utilises adaptive contrast enhancement. Consuming multimedia content will be an immersive experience as the new devices are equipped with stereo speakers tuned by AKG to produce sounds that are clear and rich in quality. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ also supports Dolby Atmos, giving the effect of 360-degree sound.
Samsung smartphones are well-known for their water and dust resistance with both the latest Galaxy S9 and S9+ receiving a IP68 rating, a gold standard. The devices now support expandable memory of up to 400GB and powering them are the latest premium application processors offering powerful performance and sophisticated image processing.
With every purchase of either the Galaxy S9 or S9+, customers will get 12GB Ncell data free and breakage insurance. Those who pre-book the device can choose to receive a Samsung Wireless charger or discount coupon worth Rs5,000. The company is also hosting a lucky draw among all its pre-bookers, where the first
winner will be awarded a free round-trip ticket to any Turkish Airline destination.
