Meizu Pro 7 is the flagship model while the M6 and M5s are targeted at the entry level segment.
Meizu is not the first smartphone brand from China to make its foray into Nepal. Chinese smartphones from Xiaomi are especially popular and Chaudhary Group is looking to grab a slice of the lucrative market with the introduction of Meizu smartphones in Nepal.
They are going for the one-two punch followed by a knockout by launching three devices targeting the premium and entry segment simultaneously.
The Pro 7 is the flagship model and has something not found on most smartphones, a secondary screen on the rear of the device. The rear screen allows the user to manage their notifications, display the music currently playing or take the perfect selfie with the rear cameras while checking the shot on the rear display. Users can also customise the rear display with a wide range of wallpapers to suit their style.
Other than the rear display on the back of the Pro 7, the device also sports dual rear cameras. Pro 7 comes equipped with 12-megapixel (MP) Sony sensors to capture beautiful moments with ease. According to the company, the combination of monochrome and colour lenses will allow the user to snap stunning night photographs as the monochrome lens captures exceptional detail to produce quality photos.
While the back of the Pro 7 gets most of the attention due to the rear display and dual cameras, the front of the device is no slouch either. The smartphone features a Super AMOLED display that provides sharp and crisp display with Full HD resolution. There is a 16 MP camera on the front for selfies. The Pro 7 is equipped with the Helio P25 processor that promises great performance while reducing power consumption. The device also comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The Pro 7 sports a 3000mAh battery and supports quick charging.
The company has also equipped the Pro 7 with a Hi-Fi chip to provide the ultimate audio experience. The Pro 7 is available in black colour and the set is priced at Rs47,499.
For those looking for something in the entry level segment, the new Meizu M5s and M6 will fit the bill.
The Meizu M5s sports a 5.2 inch IPS screen to provide wider viewing angle and precise natural colours. Powering the M5s is a 8-core processor that results in high power and efficient performance, reads a press release. In addition, 3GB of RAM enables the device to handle the most intensive gaming and social networking apps with ease.
With a 13 MP camera on the rear and 5 MP shooter on the front, the M5s will be able to capture high quality photos in almost any situation. The fingerprint scanner provides added security for accessing the phone. The M5s is crafted from laser assisted aluminium alloy construction to give it a sleek look. A 3000mAh lies inside the svelte body. It also supports quick charging.
The M5s is available in three colours: Silver, Gold and Gray and priced at Rs18,799.
The third Meizu smartphone being launched in Nepal is the M6. The M6 is positioned as an attractive device due to the coating of shiny metal like paint using non-conductive vacuum metallisation technology.
Even the logo is engraved using a laser. Combined with the 2.5D curved glass, the M6 brings a truly attractive design, states the release. The M6 is powered by an octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage. Users will be able to unlock the phone quickly with the fingerprint scanner on the front and take photos using the 13 MP camera on the rear. For selfies, there is a 8 MP camera. The M6 supports quick charging to charge its 3070mAh battery to 50 percent in half an hour.
The M6 is available in Gold and Black colours. The set is priced at Rs18,199 (16GB) and Rs19,499 (32GB). Meizu smartphones come warranties covering all aspects of the device, with six months warranty on the battery, one year for the device itself and two years on software. Additionally, every Meizu set comes with one year customer insurance from Prudential. If a problem arises with any Meizu device, customers can visit any service centre located across Nepal.
