Tata Motors will be opening advance booking for the upcoming Tata Nexon from today. Potential buyers can book the vehicle for Rs25,000. Sipradi Trading Pvt Ltd is the sole authorised distributor for Tata Motors in Nepal.
The Tata Nexon is the first compact SUV from one of India’s major automobile manufacturer. It is Tata’s attempt at grabbing a slice of one of the most popular segments, the sub 4-metre subcompact SUV. The Tata Nexon will be locking horns with established players like the Vitara Brezza, Ecosport and more. Pricing has yet to be announced.
The company is confident that the upcoming Tata Nexon will do well in Nepal as it will be feature-packed. The Nexon is based on Tata’s X1 platform and was first showcased during the 2014 Auto Expo. Fast forward to 2017 and the production car made its way onto Indian roads and soon, in Nepal.
Customers will be able to choose from two engine configurations, a 1.2 litre petrol or 1.5 litre diesel. The 3-cylinder 1.2 litre petrol engine is lifted from the Tigor and Tiago but Tata has added a turbocharger to increase power figures. The petrol engine develops 108 bhp and 170 Nm of torque.
Even the 4-cylinder 1.5 litre diesel features a turbocharger to produce 110 bhp and 260 Nm of torque. Both engine options are mated to a new 6-speed gearbox which promises to provide light clutch and crisp shift action.
The Tata Nexon features three driving modes—City, Eco and Sport, which adjusts throttle response to suit the driver’s needs. It comes with LED daytime running lights and projectors. According to the company, the seating position of the Nexon is high, giving drivers excellent road view.
The Tata Nexon claims to have the best ground clearance in its class at 209mm. This stems from the 16-inch wheels. The car also gets two airbags and ABS as standard. The company states that the ABS enabled brakes comes to a halt very quickly.
The company claims to have gone all out in terms of designing the interior which features a freestanding 6.5 inch front screen. The car supports both Android Auto and Apple Car Play. There is also an 8 speaker Harman audio setup. Other connectivity options like USB, Aux, Bluetooth and Wifi are available as well.
Tata is also claiming a best in class boot space of 350 litre, which can be further extended to 690 litres by folding the rear seats.
