A 32-member team of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) in coordination with the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and Nepali Embassy in Beijing are scheduled to go on a China sales mission on June 7 in a bid to promote Nepal in China. The delegation will take part in the mission organised in four key cities-Chengdu, Beijing, Guangzhou and Hangzhou. The mission will conclude on June 17, according to NATTA.
“Our mission aims to promote tour packages amid growing Chinese interest in Nepal,” said NATTA president Madhu Sudan Acharya. NATTA said that they would hold presentation on Nepal’s tourism in all four key cities. According to government statistics, in 2014, Nepal received 123,805 Chinese visitors. However, due to the earthquake, the number fell sharply to 66,984 in 2015.
The arrival rebounded in 2016 with 104,005 Chinese visitors in Nepal. On December 25, 2015, Nepal had announced free visa for Chinese tourists, giving them the same treatment accorded to Saarc visitors, in a bid to revive flagging arrivals. (PR)
