MAW Enterprises has launched the New ŠKODA Rapid, a car that is claimed to offer better performance and be suitable for Nepali terrain. It has an emotionally appealing design, class leading safety equipment and smart technology, the company said.  

The sedan that has been billed as a family car comes with a spacious inside which offers comfortable riding on long trips. Vishnu Kumar Agrawal, managing director of MAW, said the automobile was expected to meet the demands of domestic sedan enthusiasts.

The four-wheeler is powered by a 1.6 litre MPI petrol engine or the new 1.5 litre TDI diesel engine and delivers a fuel efficiency of 21.13 to 21.72 km per litre. The automobile features an efficient and dynamic 7-speed DSG gearbox with Tiptronics. 

With Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) 16 valves, the car delivers 105 PS (77 kW) of power and a peak torque output of 153 Nm. 

The car comes with contrasting dual-tone ebony-sand interiors, and features premium perforated leatherette seats. The New ŠKODA Rapid that has a 460-litre boot space ensures adequate room for luggage. Chrome décor provides extra luxury. 

“The highly impressive exterior design with crystalline appearance is modern and emotionally appealing,” said the company.

The dark front look of the new ŠKODA Signature Grille is perfectly complemented by its chrome surround. It has new sharp, precise and angular front lines on the bonnet. The New Rapid from ŠKODA features new quartz-cut projector lens headlights with chrome eye lashes and LED day running lights. 

It features the new Drive, a central infotainment system with a 6.5-inch colour touchscreen and MirrorLink technology that supports USB, Aux-in, Bluetooth and SD Card options.

Electrically foldable mirrors, multifunction steering wheel, Climatronic technology and rain sensing wipers and cruise control are the added features of the New ŠKODA Rapid. Cruise control is an electronic device in a motor vehicle that can be switched on to maintain a selected constant speed without the use of the accelerator.

For safety, the four-wheeler comes with enhanced state-of-the-art technologies like electronic stability control and hill hold control system. For supporting safety functions, the car is equipped with Parktonic Rear Parking Sensors, automatically dimming rear view mirror and One Touch Anti-Pinch technology for windows apart from dual airbags and anti-lock braking system. 

The car comes in six colour options including brilliant silver, candy white, cappuccino beige, carbon steel, silk blue and flash red. The petrol variant of the New ŠKODA Rapid costs Rs3.49 million while the diesel version has a price tag of Rs3.99 million. 

Since 2008, MAW has been offering five models from the brand—the ŠKODA Octavia, ŠKODA Superb, ŠKODA Yeti and ŠKODA Rapid. MAW provides service from six sales and service outlets located at Thapathali in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Biratnagar, Narayanghat, Dhangadhi and Nepalgunj.
