Saleways to open Cash and Carry
Saleways Supermarket is all set to launch Cash and Carry, a wholesale unit, which will be located at its store at Satdobato Central.
The service is scheduled to begin by mid-September and will be extended to other stores in the future. Saleways said that Cash and Carry would be the first B2B concept of retail chains in Nepal which will provide various consumer goods at wholesale prices.
Sushil Pradhanang, director of Saleways, said that the new venture would be helpful in supply and wholesale market management. “Wholesale outlets in the country are very scattered, and retailers have been having a hard time purchasing stock for their stores. This service will benefit retailers by providing a wide variety of groceries at wholesale prices under one roof,” he said.
Pradhanang added that the company’s focus would be on supply management as it is very important for any retail chain. “In the past decade, we have focused on infrastructure, but now the focus will be on supply chain management,” he said.
Sandeep Pradhanang, director of Cash and Carry, said that it would benefit bulk buyers like grocery stores, caterers, hotels and restaurants. “Saleways Cash and Carry will source goods directly from factories or importers at the cheapest possible prices and help customers to make huge savings on each purchase and enjoy easy and hassle-free wholesale shopping under the same roof,” he said. Spread over 35,000 sq ft, the Saleways wholesale market will provide various FMCG goods first and will expand its line to apparels and other items later. According to Pradhanang, the store will also serve as a centralised purchasing unit for Saleways retail stores and it will have a delivery system too.
The Saleways retail chain opened at Chipledhunga, Pokhara in 1992. It operates five stores in the country including Kathmandu valley and Pokhara. The company plans to open a sixth store at Lakeside, Pokhara next month.
