As the news about the discovery of bizarre creatures began to circulate, people from neighbouring villages rushed to the Budhi Morang, Mulghat area to collect them.

A local journalist Mohan Bantawa said the fishes weigh 65 to 80 kg each. As many as 10,000 tones of fishes were recovered in a single day from the Tamor River banks in Dhankuta district. The fishes were sold for up to Rs 400 per kilo in local market, Bantawa said.

According to locals, the fishes are not usually found in the river. It has been heard from the old folks that such fishes were found along the river banks when the river flooded in 2037 BS.
