Man arrested on charge of murder
A 21-year-old man of Gokarneshwar arrested for allegedly murdering a teenage girl after she refused his romantic advances.Post Report
Police have arrested a man on the charge of murdering a teenage girl at Shivapuri National Park on the outskirts of Kathmandu.
The arrestee, 21-year-old Rupendra Lama of Gokarneshwar-3, was paraded at a press meet in Kathmandu on Sunday.
Sushma Lama, 18, of Gokarneshwar Municipality-3 in Kathmandu, went missing on February 5. The police initiated a search operation after the family filed a missing complaint four days later when the girl lost contact.
On March 7, a body with only hands visible was discovered buried in the national park. The following day, the body was exhumed and identified as that of Sushma.
According to police officers involved in the investigation, Rupendra confessed that he had been in unrequited love for the past eight months and murdered her after she repeatedly rejected his romantic advances.
