A man was found dead at New Road in the Capital on Wednesday.
Superintendent of Police Dinesh Raj Mainali, also the spokesperson of the Kathmandu Metropolitan Police Range, said locals at around 6:30am located the body in an unconscious state and informed police.
“When police arrived at the scene, the youth was already dead,” said Mainali.
The deceased has been identified as Suren Maharjan, 34, of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-24, Teku.
“We have sent the body for post-mortem to Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj,” said Mainali.
Soon after the incident, a team of police from the Kathmandu Metropolitan Crime Division, along with a trained sniffer dog, was deployed to the incident site.
Police officials say there were no signs of injuries in the body.
“However, we have to wait for the autopsy report to determine if it is a case of murder or suicide,” said Mainali.
