Nepali Army to conduct aerial patrols in sensitive polling centres in Karnali

The Nepali Army will conduct aerial patrols over highly sensitive polling centres during the House of Representatives elections scheduled for March 5.
Major General Dipesh Jung Shah, chief of the North Western Division, said air patrols began on Wednesday in six districts under the division. The patrols target areas classified as highly sensitive, with aerial monitoring of polling sites.
He said Kalikot, Jajarkot, Dolpa, Surkhet, Banke and Bardiya will see two days of aerial patrols. A total of 356 polling centres under the division have been categorised as highly sensitive. Troops can be mobilised by air if required.
According to the Karnali Province Police Office, of 359 highly sensitive polling centres across 10 districts in Karnali, 422 are sensitive and 160 are normal.
