Telephone services disrupted in three Karnali districts for five days
Locals in Jajarot, Rukum West and Dolpa cut off during Dashain.Post Report
Telephone services have been disrupted for the past five days in Jajarkot, Rukum West and Dolpa districts of Karnali Province.
Communication has been completely cut off in wards 12 and 13 of Nalgad Municipality and wards 4, 5 and 6 of Aathabis Municipality in Rukum West.
In Barekot Rural Municipality, most areas have lost connectivity after a problem occurred at the tower in Ratankot, ward 5. Services in Gotamkot of Rukum West and Nayakwada of Jajarkot have also stopped after tower failures, leaving locals unable to contact relatives during the Dashain festival, Nalgad Mayor Dammar Rawat said. He added that complaints have reached both district and provincial offices, but no solution has been provided yet.
Since the Gotamkot tower also relays signals to Mudkechula in Dolpa, the disruption has extended there as well, according to Rural Municipality Chair Dattabahadur Shahi.
Nepal Telecom’s Jajarkot technician, Prakash Upadhyaya, said repair work is underway. The Gotamkot tower is being fixed first, followed by Nayakwada.
