Karnali Chief Minister Yamlal Kandel has secured the vote of confidence from the provincial assembly on Monday afternoon.
This is Kandel’s second floor test in four months of assuming the office. He had previously secured the trust vote after forming a government in coalition with the CPN (Maoist Centre).
He went for a floor test for the second time as the parties changed the coalition partners last month. Following the formation of the alliance between the Congress and the UML at the federal level, similar coalitions have been formed in provinces as well.
In the 40-member provincial assembly, Chief Minister Kandel secured 23 votes. He got the votes of nine lawmakers from CPN-UML, 13 from Nepali Congress and one independent member. Fourteen lawmakers voted against him.
Earlier on Sunday, four Congress lawmakers were appointed as ministers in the Kandel-led Cabinet.
Ghanashyam Bhandari of Dailekh, Rajiv Bikram Shah of Jajarkot, Suresh Adhikari of Salyan and Bijaya Budha of Humla were picked as ministers.
