One person was killed in a road accident in Salyan on Saturday.

Bangad Kupinde Municipality-1 local Shishir BC had sustained serious injuries after the motorcycle he was riding pillion crashed into a truck-trailer on the Sallibazar-Chaurjahari road section at around 5:30pm on Friday, said Bhawani Prasad Dhamala, information officer at the Salyan district police office.

The 18-year-old victim was rushed to the Mahelkuna Hospital in Surkhet for treatment but was referred to the Salyan District Hospital, Dhamala added.

BC died at around 1am on Saturday on the way to the district hospital.

Truck driver Deepak Thapa, 25, and the 16-year-old motorcyclist have been taken into police custody.

Further investigation into the matter is underway.
