Police on Thursday arrested a Surkhet local on charge of murdering his son.

According to the police, the 45-year-old man attacked his 21-year-old son with an axe on Monday. The son had lodged a complaint at the Surkhet District Police Office in October last year, accusing the father of raping his own daughter.

As per the father’s statement recorded by the police, the man admitted to have murdered his own son to keep the incident under wraps.

The arrestee was taken into police custody by a team of personnel deployed from the Karnali provincial police office while he was attempting to escape to India via Mahendranagar.
