A 23-year-old was arrested on the charge of murdering his mother in Salyan on Tuesday.
Sharada Municipality-13 local Nabin Bhandari was taken into police custody for allegedly murdering his 47-year-old mother Sharada Bhandari.
The accused had entered his parent’s bedroom at around 4am and attacked the victim with a walking stick while she was asleep, said Police Inspector Gopal Shrestha.
The victim lost her life on the spot after suffering a deep injury to her head, Shrestha added.
The arrestee has been taken to the Salyan District Police Office for further investigation.
The reason behind the attack is still unknown.
The victim’s body is being taken to the district hospital for postmortem, police said.
