Nepal on Tuesday reported 229 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 824,764.

Similarly, 35 people tested positive in a total of 4,317 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Tuesday, 4,734,586 PCR and 767,642 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 9,392 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported two Covid-19-related fatalities.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 11,559. The number of active cases stands at 5,689.

According to the ministry, 807,516 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 362 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 147 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 109 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 30 in Lalitpur and eight in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 20 new infections were recorded in Province 1, nine in Province 2, 162 in Bagmati, 18 in Gandaki, 17 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and one in Sudurpaschim.

On Tuesday, 120 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 27—six in Province 1, 18 in Bagmati, one in Gandaki and two in Lumbini —were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday reported 313 new coronavirus cases and three deaths. Similarly, 242 new coronavirus cases and one death were recorded on Sunday and 194 new coronavirus cases and one death were reported on Saturday.
