With 1,488 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 770,759
The Health Ministry reports 20 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Monday reported 1,488 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 770,759.
Similarly, 409 people tested positive in a total of 4,370 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Monday, 3,969,721 PCR and 492,114 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 11,609 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 20 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,858. The number of active cases stands at 30,973.
According to the ministry, 728,928 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 1,743 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 606 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 418 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 87 in Lalitpur and 101 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 268 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 17 in Province 2, 864 in Bagmati, 210 in Gandaki, 84 in Lumbini, nine in Karnali and 36 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 18 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 21 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Monday, 512 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 163—34 in Province 1, 105 in Bagmati, five in Gandaki, eight in Lumbini, three in Karnali and eight in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Sunday reported 976 new cases and 20 deaths. Similarly, 1,024 new coronavirus cases and nine deaths were reported on Saturday and 1,357 Covid-19 cases and 23 fatalities were reported on Friday.
