With 1,357 new cases, Nepal’s Covid-19 tally reaches 767,271
The Health Ministry reports 23 new deaths including figures from the past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Friday reported 1,357 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 767,271.
Similarly, 399 people tested positive in a total of 4,561 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
As of Friday, 3,946,189 PCR and 481,821 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 9,773 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 23 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 10,809. The number of active cases stands at 33,006.
According to the ministry, 723,456 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 2,274 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 667 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 467 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 129 in Lalitpur and 71 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 204 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 24 in Province 2, 797 in Bagmati, 161 in Gandaki, 81 in Lumbini, 58 in Karnali and 32 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 19 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 20 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.
On Friday, 540 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 156—38 in Province 1, 91 in Bagmati, five in Gandaki, 11 in Lumbini, five in Karnali and six in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 1,619 Covid-19 cases and 16 fatalities. Similarly, 1,648 Covid-19 cases and 20 fatalities were recorded on Wednesday and 1,523 Covid-19 cases and 20 fatalities were reported on Tuesday.
