Nepal on Tuesday reported 3,703 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 626,343.

Similarly, 819 people tested positive in a total of 4,709 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.

As of Tuesday, 3,288,053 PCR and 151,592 antigen tests have been carried out across the country.

A total of 12,204 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.

In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 41 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.

The countrywide death toll has now reached 8,813. The number of active cases stands at 52,648.

According to the ministry, 564,882 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 4,954 of them in the last 24 hours.

Kathmandu Valley recorded 476 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 310 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 99 in Lalitpur and 37 in Bhaktapur.

In the past 24 hours, 369 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 51 in Province 2, 882 in Bagmati, 486 in Gandaki, 189 in Lumbini, 40 in Karnali and 42 in Sudurpaschim.

According to the data released by the ministry, 37 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and 19 other districts host more than 200 active cases each.

On Tuesday, 761 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 218— 38 in Province 1, three in Province 2, 136 in Bagmati, 18 in Gandaki, 14 in Lumbini, two in Karnali and seven in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.

Nepal on Monday reported 1,584 new coronavirus cases and 46 deaths. Similarly, 1,421 new coronavirus cases and 51 deaths were reported on Sunday and 1,688 new coronavirus cases and 34 deaths were reported on Saturday
