With 8,467 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 439,658

Nepal on Friday reported 8,467 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 439,658.
Similarly, 53 people tested positive in a total of 530 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 203 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 4,669. The number of active cases stands at 107,336.
The positivity rate was 40 percent on Friday. It was 52 on Monday, a record.
According to the ministry, 327,653 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 6,135 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,349 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 2,458 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 556 in Lalitpur and 335 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 905 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 499 in Province 2, 4,307 in Bagmati, 630 in Gandaki, 1,134 in Lumbini, 472 in Karnali and 520 in Sudurpaschim.
According to the data released by the ministry, 34 districts are home to more than 500 active cases each and other 19 districts host more than 200 active cases each.
As of Friday, 2,733,510 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 20,948 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
On Friday, 1,334 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 371—55 in Province 1, 40 in Province 2, 220 in Bagmati, 19 in Gandaki, 16 in Lumbini, six in Karnali and 15 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 8,842 new cases and 214 Covid-19 related fatalities. Similarly, 9,238 new cases and 168 Covid-19 related fatalities were recorded on Wednesday and 9,317 new cases and 225 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Tuesday.
