With 8,842 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 431,191

Nepal on Thursday reported 8,842 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 431,191.
Similarly, 118 people tested positive in a total of 771 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 214 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 4,466. The number of active cases stands at 105,207.
The positivity rate was 45 percent on Thursday. It was 52 on Monday, a record.
According to the ministry, 321,518 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 5,055 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,562 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 2,733 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 481 in Lalitpur and 348 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 883 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 613 in Province 2, 4,334 in Bagmati, 540 in Gandaki, 1,300 in Lumbini, 425 in Karnali and 747 in Sudurpaschim.
As of Thursday, 2,712,562 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 19,474 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
On Thursday, 1,381 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 380—53 in Province 1, 43 in Province 2, 231 in Bagmati, 18 in Gandaki, 13 in Lumbini, eight in Karnali and 14 in Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Wednesday reported 9,238 new cases and 168 Covid-19 related fatalities. Similarly, 9,317 new cases and 225 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded on Tuesday and 9,127 new cases and 139 Covid-19 related deaths were reported on Monday.
