With 9,238 new cases, Nepal's Covid-19 tally reaches 422,349
The Health Ministry reports 168 new deaths including figures from past few days based on statistics from the Nepal Army.Post Report
Nepal on Wednesday reported 9,238 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours taking the nationwide infection tally to 422,349.
Similarly, 67 people tested positive in a total of 424 antigen tests, according to the Health Ministry.
In its regular situation report, the ministry did not mention the death toll over the past 24 hours. It, however, reported 168 Covid-19-related fatalities, which included the number of deaths managed by Nepal Army on different dates.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 4,252. The number of active cases stands at 101,634.
The positivity rate was 45 percent on Wednesday. It was 52 on Monday, a record.
According to the ministry, 316,463 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; 4,444 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 3,924 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of these, 3,250 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 448 in Lalitpur and 226 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 891 new infections were recorded in Province 1, 342 in Province 2, 4,636 in Bagmati, 520 in Gandaki, 1,640 in Lumbini, 328 in Karnali and 881 in Sudurpaschim.
As of Wednesday, 2,693,088 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 20,362 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry.
On Wednesday, 1,241 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 285—164 in Bagmati, 41 in Province 2, 38 in Province 1, 15 in Gandaki, 13 in Sudurpaschim, eight in Karnali and six in Lumbini—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Tuesday reported 9,317 new cases and 225 Covid-19 related deaths. Similarly, 9,127 new cases and 139 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded on Monday and 88 Covid-19 related deaths and 8,777 new cases were reported on Sunday.
