Nepal reports 8,777 new cases in the past 24 hours
Nationwide coronavirus infection tally reaches 394,667. Number of active cases stands at 88,160.Post Report
Nepal on Sunday reported 8,777 new cases in the last 24 hours, taking the nationwide coronavirus infection tally close to 400,000.
The Health Ministry in its regular situation report did not mention the 24-hour death toll, but it reported 88 fatalities based on the compilation of additional Covid-19 deaths from the Covid-19 Crisis Management Centre and Nepal Army from across the country.
The countrywide death toll has now reached 3,720. As of Sunday, the infection tally stood at 394,667. The number of active cases now stand at 88,160.
According to the ministry, 302,787 infected people have recovered from the disease so far, 4,022 of them in the last 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 4,198 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 3,161 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 533 in Lalitpur and 504 in Bhaktapur.
In the past 24 hours, 4,966 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 1,235 in Lumbini, 698 in Sudurpaschim, 641 in Gandaki, 541 in Province 1, 429 in Province 2 and 277 in Karnali.
As of Sunday, 2,634,504 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 18,787 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
On Sunday, 832 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country. Another 267—157 in Bagmati, 37 in Province 2, 21 in Lumbini, 17 in Province 1, 13 in Gandaki and 11 each in Karnali and Sudurpaschim—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday had reported 53 Covid-19 related deaths and 8,287 new cases. Similarly, 50 deaths Covid-19 related fatalities and 9,023 new cases were recorded on Friday and 54 Covid-19 related fatalities and 8,970 new cases were recorded on Thursday.
