Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,029 with two more deaths; national tally reaches 270,959 with 105 new infections

Nepal on Sunday reported two more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 2,029. The country also recorded 105 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 270,959 with 2,594 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 266,336 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 288 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 68 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 60 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, six in Lalitpur and two in Bhaktapur.
As of Sunday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 126,684. While Kathmandu has reported 499 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 160 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 998 individuals from Bagmati Province, 285 from Lumbini Province, 226 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 209 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Sunday, 2,071,007 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,308 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 71 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 26 in Gandaki Province, six in Lumbini and one each in Province 1 and Province 2.
Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces did not report any cases today.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Bhojpur, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Sunday, 143 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 25 others—13 in Bagmati Province, seven in Gandaki, four in Lumbini and one in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Saturday reported two deaths and 109 new cases. Similarly, five Covid-19-related fatalities and 157 new cases were recorded on Friday and 213 new infections were recorded on Thursday.
