Nepal’s Covid-19 toll reaches 2,025 with five more deaths; national tally reaches 270,745 with 157 new infections

Nepal on Friday reported five more Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 2,025. The country also recorded 157 new cases.
The overall infection tally has reached 270,745 with 3,022 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 265,698 infected people have recovered from the disease so far; of them 333 in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 82 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 63 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 14 in Lalitpur and five in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 126,552. While Kathmandu has reported 496 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have recorded 160 and 115 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 994 individuals from Bagmati Province, 285 from Lumbini Province, 226 from Province 1, 219 from Province 2, 209 from Gandaki Province, 65 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 27 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 2,064,081 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 3,221 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 92 new infections were recorded in Bagmati Province, 34 in Gandaki Province and 15 in Lumbini Province.
Similarly, Province 2, Province 1, Sudurpaschim and Karnali reported six, five, four and one cases respectively.
While Kathmandu has more than 500 active cases, Kalikot, Rukum (West) and Mugu districts do not have any active cases, according to the ministry.
Until Friday, 147 individuals infected with the virus were being treated in intensive care units across the country, 27 others—15 in Bagmati Province, seven in Gandaki, four in Lumbini and one in Karnali—were on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday did not report any Covid-19-related deaths, but 213 new infections were recorded in the country. Similarly, three deaths and 283 new infections were recorded on Wednesday and six deaths and 303 new cases on Tuesday.
