Nepal reports 18 more Covid-19-related fatalities to take the death toll to 1,070; national tally reaches 188,883 with 2,909 new infections
While 380 individuals infected with the virus are being treated in intensive care units across the country, 83 others are on ventilator support, according to the Health Ministry.Post Report
Nepal on Friday reported 18 Covid-19-related fatalities, pushing the death toll to 1,070. The country also recorded 2,909 new cases.
The overall national infection tally has reached 188,883 with 34,905 active cases.
According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 4,500 infected people recovered in the past 24 hours.
Kathmandu Valley recorded 1,338 new infections in the past 24 hours. Of them, 1,030 cases were confirmed in Kathmandu, 187 in Lalitpur and 121 in Bhaktapur.
As of Friday, the number of confirmed cases in the Valley has reached 85,682. While Kathmandu has reported 262 Covid-19-related fatalities so far, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have recorded 69 and 66 deaths respectively.
According to the ministry, 529 individuals from Bagmati Province, 165 from Province 2, 146 from Lumbini Province, 131 from Province 1, 61 from Gandaki Province, 25 from Sudurpaschim Province, and 13 from Karnali Province have died of Covid-19 so far.
As of Friday, 1,517,343 PCR tests have been carried out across the country.
A total of 10,153 PCR tests were performed in the past 24 hours, according to the data released by the ministry.
In the past 24 hours, 333 new infections were reported in Province 1, 117 in Province 2, and 1,663 in Bagmati Province.
Similarly, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces reported 315, 310, 72 and 99 cases.
Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Morang, Chitwan, Kaski and Dang districts reported more than 100 infections in the past 24 hours.
While thirteen districts—Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makwanpur, Kavrepalanchok, Kaski, Nawalparasi (East), Dang, and Rupandehi—have more than 500 active cases, Manang does not have any active case, according to the ministry.

Eighty-three others—44 in Bagmati Province, 17 in Gandaki Province, 12 in Province 1, six in Lumbini Province, and two each in Province 2 and Sudurpaschim Province—are on ventilator support.
Nepal on Thursday reported 18 Covid-19-related deaths and 3,051 new infections compared to 30 deaths, the highest single day record, and 3,309 new infections on Wednesday and 20 deaths and 3,114 new infections on Tuesday.
