Post Report
Nepali-American fashion designer Prabal Gurung has released his memoir, ‘Walk Like a Girl.’ Viking Press, an American publishing company owned by Penguin Random House, is the publisher of this book.
In the book, Gurung shares his journey from growing up as a queer boy in Nepal and India to becoming a well-known fashion designer in New York, the US. He writes about facing discrimination and challenges while pursuing the American dream and rising through the ranks of the fashion world.
The book also highlights his struggles, achievements, and the support of his mother, who played a key role in his journey.
Gurung writes on his Instagram, “I wrote this with trembling hands and a wide-open heart. Every page holds a truth I once believed I had to bury. Every sentence is stitched with hope, memory, heartbreak, and defiance.”
‘Walk Like a Girl’ is described as a celebration of femininity, individuality, and the power of embracing one’s true self.
Vogue writes, “It’s a story that manages to be both optimistic and empathetic—sometimes quite generously so, even to some of those who didn’t treat him very well—without sugarcoating anything.”
