Amalgam 2023 kicks off at Siddhartha Art GalleryThe exhibition features artworks by more than 45 artists.
Siddhartha Art Gallery, one of Nepal’s oldest running galleries, is hosting its annual group show titled ‘Amalgam 2023.’ The exhibition opened on Thursday at the gallery in Babarmahal. Inaugurated by celebrated actors Deepa Shree Niraula and Deepak Raj Giri, the exhibition features a mix of all artistic mediums—paintings, analogue photographs, etchings and sculptures, among others.
Curated by the gallery director Sangeeta Thapa alongside senior artist Prithvi Shrestha, the exhibition was started with an aim to create a space where Nepali artists—from veteran artists to up-and-coming ones—can come together in a single roof to talk about and learn from their practices. Artworks by 49 artists are currently on display at the gallery.
The Amalgam show initially began as Monsoon Moods. However, Thapa renamed the show Amalgam to allude to the amalgamation of different types of art mediums included in the shows.
