The project will be Ghimire’s comeback to the film industry after 2015’s hit comedy Wada No 6, a film comprising a star cast of Nepali television’s comics—Deepak Raj Giri, Sandip Chhetri, Kedar Ghimire and Jitu Nepal, among others.
Ghimire’s upcoming film, however, will be a love story featuring actors Pradeep Khadka and Jassita Gurung, who last appeared together in Lily Bily, which released earlier this year.
Along with Khadka and Gurung, the film will also introduce Miss Siligudi Shraddha Chhetri and marks a comeback for one of the most prolific actresses of the late nineties and early aughts, Niruta Singh. The film’s cast further includes veteran actors Saroj Khanal and Prakash Shah.
Director Ghimire said that filming is set to begin in Darjeeling, the inspiration for the film’s name. The Indian city is often touted as the ‘Queen of Hill Stations’. Ghimire has dubbed Love Station his ‘dream project’.
Ghimire, who cut his teeth directing 1996’s Gothalo, has helmed eight films so far, including Kismat, Andaj, Chhodi Gaye Paap Lagla and others.
Actor Khadka revealed that the film is a ‘family love story’ and said that he is ‘very excited’ to work with the veteran director. For actress Gurung, Love Station will be a ‘dream come true’. “I’ve wanted to work with such a successful director for long, who wouldn’t?” Gurung said.
Principal photography for Love Station will begin in the first week of Asoj, in Darjeeling, after which the crew will move to other cities, such as Kalimpong and Sikkim in India and Fikkal in Nepal.
The producers have set the film’s tentative release date for March 2019.
