Jhamak Ghimire Honored
The Mid-Western University has awarded an honorary doctorate degree to litterateur Jhamak Ghimire. The degree was presented by Prof Dr Upendra Kumar Koirala at Ghimire’s resident in Kachide, Dhankuta, on Monday.

The honorary degree has been conferred to hail the contribution Jhamak Ghimire—a treasure of Nepali literature and a standout figure of creativity and struggle—has made to Nepali literature, the certificate states.
To which, Ghimire wrote in reply: “This is a great honour for me. I will try to live up to it; honours like these inspire me to hone my craft.”
Ghimire received the prestigious Madan Puraskar for her autobiography Jeevan Kanda Ki Phool (2011). She has authored more than a dozen books thus far.
Ghimire will be felicitated with the PhD amid a ceremony slated to be held in the Capital.
