Post Report
Leisure Port Nepal organised the fifth edition of the Kathmandu Pink Careathon yesterday. It was previously known as the Kathmandu Pinkathon. The event aims to raise awareness against breast cancer, women’s health and overall well-being and empowerment of women.
The run was divided into four categories: a three-kilometre run, a five-kilometre run, a ten-kilometre run, and a 21-kilometre run. The starting point was Jawalakhel Football Ground. Open to women of all age groups, the initiative encourages them to prioritise their well-being despite their busy daily routines.
Actress Usha Rajak served as the event’s goodwill ambassador. Before the run, she led all participants in warm-up and light exercises. Rajak said, “I feel energised watching women of all ages prepared to run for a noble cause.”
Leisure Port Nepal organised the Kathmandu Pinkathon for three consecutive years from 2017 to 2019. The event faced interruptions due to the Covid pandemic and other factors before it resumed in 2024.
Prabina Chaulagain, one of the participants, said, “This is my second time participating in a five-kilometre run. I feel inspired by the presence of so many women. Events that support a worthy cause, like this one, should happen more often in the future.”
