Fog and mist are likely to affect most parts of the Tarai throughout Sunday, with reduced visibility expected until at least midday, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.

In its 24-hour forecast issued at 8am on Sunday, the Division said fog or mist would prevail across the Tarai of all provinces, particularly during the morning hours. Weather in the hilly and Himalayan regions is expected to remain partly cloudy.

A few places in the high hilly and Himalayan regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces are likely to receive light rain or snowfall during the day. Similar conditions are expected to persist at night, with fog continuing in most Tarai areas.

During the night, the Himalayan regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Karnali provinces will remain partly cloudy, while the rest of the country is expected to see mainly fair weather. Gandaki’s high hilly and Himalayan areas may again witness light rain or snowfall at one or two locations.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division said the current weather pattern is influenced by a partial effect of westerly winds across the country.

Travellers in the Tarai have been advised to remain cautious due to poor visibility, especially during early morning and late-night hours.
