The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that several parts of the country are likely to experience moderate to heavy rainfall and snowfall in the next 24 hours due to the combined effects of Cyclone Montha, which has developed over the Bay of Bengal, and a low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea.
According to the division, most areas in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces will remain mostly cloudy this afternoon, with the Tarai region seeing partly cloudy conditions. Moderate rain is expected in many areas of Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, while some hilly and mountainous parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces could see similar conditions. A few places in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may receive light rain.
The division also forecast moderate snowfall in some high-hill and mountainous regions.
Tonight, the weather is expected to remain mostly to fully cloudy across the country. Most areas in Koshi, Madhesh and Bagmati provinces, and many parts of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, are likely to see moderate rainfall. Heavy rain is possible at one or two locations in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Lumbini provinces.
The division added that heavy snowfall may occur at one or two places in the high-hill and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
