The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that hilly areas of Koshi and Karnali provinces are likely to receive heavy rainfall on Sunday afternoon.

According to the division, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the hilly regions, while the rest of the country will see partly cloudy skies. Moderate rain is likely in some areas of the hills and at a few places elsewhere.

Tonight, Koshi and Madhesh provinces along with the hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy, while other areas will see partly cloudy conditions. Moderate rain is likely in some parts of the hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few locations in the remaining hills and Tarai. Heavy rainfall is also possible at one or two places in the Tarai of Koshi Province.

The division said the monsoon trough is currently positioned near its average location in the east and south of normal in the west. A low-pressure system over Sikkim is likely to affect eastern Nepal.
