The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that heavy rainfall is likely in parts of the Tarai of Lumbini Province and the hilly regions of Bagmati, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces on Saturday afternoon.

Skies will remain generally cloudy nationwide, with moderate rain forecast for some hilly areas and a few parts of the Tarai, the division said.

Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and in other hilly areas, while the rest of the regions will see partly cloudy skies. Moderate rainfall is likely in some areas of these provinces and at a few places elsewhere. Heavy downpour is also possible in parts of Gandaki’s hills and the Tarai of Lumbini.

According to the division, the monsoon trough is currently near its normal position, while moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal are adding to the intensity of monsoon activity.
