The Meteorological Forecasting Division said skies will remain generally cloudy in the hilly regions of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces and partly cloudy elsewhere on Thursday afternoon.

Moderate rain is likely in some places of the hilly and Tarai areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in a few areas of the hilly regions across the country and the Tarai of Madhesh Province. Heavy rainfall is also expected in one or two places in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.

At night, hilly regions are expected to remain generally cloudy and other areas partly cloudy. Moderate rain is likely in some places of the hilly and Tarai areas of Gandaki Province, and the hilly regions of Bagmati, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, as well as a few areas of the hilly and Tarai regions of Madhesh Province.

The Division said the monsoon trough is positioned near the Tarai in western Nepal and slightly south of the Tarai in the east, making the monsoon more active in the west than in eastern Nepal.
