The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that several parts of the country are likely to receive moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours due to active monsoon conditions.
According to the division, most hilly areas in Koshi, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces will remain mostly cloudy throughout the day, while other regions will see generally cloudy skies.
“Moderate rain is likely in some areas of Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as in the hilly regions of Koshi,” the division said in its forecast issued at 6am Wednesday. One or two places in Koshi and Sudurpaschim provinces could also witness heavy downpours.
Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected across the country, with chances of light to moderate rain in a few hilly areas and isolated parts of the Tarai. The division said Koshi Province may again see heavy rainfall at one or two locations overnight.
Meteorologists said the monsoon trough currently lies north of its average position and is spread across Nepal’s Tarai region, sustaining the wet weather system.
