The weather is expected to remain generally cloudy across the country throughout Wednesday, with widespread light to moderate rain likely in many areas of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

A few places in the remaining provinces are also expected to receive rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is forecast in a few places of Koshi Province, while isolated areas of Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces may also witness heavy downpours.

Light to moderate rain or snowfall is likely in some high-hill and mountainous areas. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also expected in parts of the Tarai region of Koshi and Madhesh provinces.

During the night, partly to generally cloudy skies are expected nationwide. Some areas in Koshi, Madhesh, Sudurpaschim provinces and the hilly regions may see light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning. Heavy rain is also likely at one or two places in Koshi, Madhesh, and Sudurpaschim.

According to the division, monsoon winds are currently active throughout the country, and the monsoon trough lies near the average position in the west and slightly north of the average in the east.
