Most parts of the country are expected to remain generally cloudy on Tuesday, with widespread rain forecast across the hills and some parts of the Tarai, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.
According to the Division, light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely in several hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces during the day. Isolated parts of the remaining provinces could also see brief showers. One or two locations in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces may experience heavy rain.
The Division has also forecast light to moderate rain or snowfall in some high-hill and mountainous regions.
Rain is likely to continue into the night, with most parts of the country remaining generally cloudy. Light to moderate rainfall with thunder and lightning is expected in a few hilly locations of Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as at a few isolated locations elsewhere. Heavy rainfall is also likely overnight at one or two places in Koshi, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Karnali provinces.
In addition, the Division warned of brief windstorms in some Tarai areas of Koshi Province and in Madhesh Province.
Meteorologists said the monsoon is currently active across Nepal. “The monsoon trough is near its average position in the western parts of the country and lies slightly to the north of the average position in the east,” the Division said in its analysis.
The Department has advised the public to remain alert, particularly in areas at risk of landslides and flooding due to heavy rainfall.
