The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that monsoon conditions will persist across Nepal over the next 24 hours, with a likelihood of light to moderate rain in most regions and heavy downpours in some areas.
According to the division’s forecast issued at 6 am on Sunday, generally cloudy conditions are expected nationwide. A few places in the hilly regions and isolated locations elsewhere may experience light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning. One or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Karnali provinces are at risk of heavy rainfall.
During the night, similar weather conditions will continue. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at isolated places in the rest of the country. Heavy rainfall is also possible at one or two locations in Koshi and Gandaki provinces.
The division added that light to moderate rain or snowfall is expected at a few places in the country’s high-hill and Himalayan regions.
Meteorologists say Nepal remains under the influence of monsoon winds. The monsoon trough is currently positioned near the average location in the east and slightly to the north of its normal position in the west.
