The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that monsoon winds continue to affect most parts of the country, with the monsoon trough lying close to its average position. The weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy nationwide over the next 24 hours.

According to the division, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at various places across Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces today. A few locations in other provinces could also witness brief showers. One or two areas in the hilly regions of Koshi and Bagmati are at risk of heavy rainfall, while light to moderate snowfall or rain is also expected in some high hilly and Himalayan areas.

Tonight, rain activity is forecast to intensify in several provinces. Many places in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim are likely to receive light to moderate rain with thunder. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at a few locations in Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim, and at isolated spots in Koshi, Bagmati, and Lumbini provinces.

The division has urged the public, especially those in mountainous and flood-prone regions, to remain alert.
