The weather is expected to remain partly to generally cloudy across the country on Thursday, with rain and thunderstorms likely in many hilly areas, the Meteorological Forecasting Division said.

According to the division, light to moderate rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the hilly regions of Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few places in other parts of the country. One or two areas in the hilly regions of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces may witness heavy rainfall.

There is also a chance of light to moderate rain or snowfall at a few places in the high-hill and mountainous regions of all provinces. Thunderstorms and gusty winds are also likely at a few places in the Tarai region of Koshi Province and parts of Madhesh Province.

At night, the division forecasts partly to generally cloudy conditions across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of Koshi Province and a few places elsewhere. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The division said the country remains under the influence of the monsoon system.
